Avon Rec Center

by admin on September 4, 2009

When there is no snow on the mountain and you can not get your exercise simply by skiing, you need another solution. The Avon Rec Center has just the solution. They have a fully equipped gym and extensive pool. The pool contains a large water slide and a lazy river that will sweep you off your feet and let you relax in the warm water. There is also a diving board and a piping hot hot tub. Not to mention a nice and cold lap pool. In order to stay in shape in the offseason the Avon Rec Center is a great place to do so and the boys from the ski rental delivery shop will be staying in shape.

Lions and Tigers and Bears…. O My

by admin on August 14, 2009

Summer in Vail may mean that most of the tourists leave but the animals come out. Living in Eagle Vail I assumed I could leave my windows open only to find out that raccoons are crafty little devils and will simply remove your screen help themselves to everything in your pantry and garbage, not to mention eat your beta fish right out of his bowl. The Dusty Boot in Beaver Creek had a bear wonder in after hours when a dishwasher left the back door open and he simply helped himself to two boxes of Pepsi syrup. I would not want to run into that bear after he drank all of that caffeine. Thankfully over at Vail Ski Rentals we have not had any animal run ins.

Summer Kickball

by admin on August 14, 2009

After all the snow has melted and you think the fun is over you realize there is hope for fun in the summer…. Kickball ….. Like most people that play they have not played kickball since grade school and drinking is promoted and encouraged so its more about fun than anything else. The games were held on Sundays and were an hour long. Kickball is hard believe it or not. There is skill to kicking a ball you can not just blast it because it will just pop out to the outfielders and easily be caught. Base-running will make you ask your self when the last time you actually ran full speed. Then you realize its been awhile as muscles you never knew you had begin to hurt. Thankfully a cold beer can cure all and game goes on. The Vail Ski Shop really looks forward to next summer.

Avon the Great

by admin on July 27, 2009

The 4th July is a time for picnics, cookouts, fun and most importantly fireworks. A 4th of July can be made or broken by fireworks. An amazing show will make your charred hot dog and warm beer taste that much better. However a horrible show can over shadow your fantastic bbq. In order to no be disappointed for fireworks you have to go to the town of Avon. It is not even up at Beaver Creek but at the lake in Avon. Most people that come in the winter have no idea there is a lake and that it is home to one of the greatest fireworks shows in Colorado. The show was put on the 3rd of July and before hand there was a free concert and tons of food stands. Fireworks began at nightfall and for 45 minutes it was nothing but colors, and shapes all done to music. It was amazing and beautiful. The only disappointing thing was knowing that tomorrow on the 4th no matter what you see it will not live up to the Avon fireworks.

Great Deal in a Great Place

by admin on July 25, 2009

When most people hear “Bachelors Gulch” one word comes to mind, expensive. So when you see in the paper the Buffalo Bar at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelors Gulch is offering all your can eat appetizers and all you can drink beer and wine for 20 dollars you think its a mistake. This however is not a mistake it is though the best deal in the valley. For three hours once a week for a mere 20 dollars you can indulge yourself in free flowing beer, wine and appetizers in the beautiful surroundings of Bachelors Gulch. To top it all off there is wonderful live music. Its just one guy and a guitar but he plays whatever people want to hear and puts on quite a show. Having spent all my other time in Bachelors Gulch delivering Vail ski equipment rentals it was nice to visit it and be able to enjoy its beauty and not be busy working.

Winter Returned but Will Soon be Gone

by admin on April 6, 2009

Winter seemed to return to the rockies this past week. A storm was brewing all week, leaving 44 inches of fresh snow in Beaver Creek. Certainly assuring great conditions for the end of the winter season. Beaver Creek ski rental shops have excellent equipment, whether you want skis that are geared toward powder, hard pack or anything between. The Beaver Creek ski rental shops provide professional service at affordable prices. Take a look at the Beaver Creek ski rental shops online before the snow melts away.

Getting the Right Fit

by admin on March 31, 2009

Traveling as much as I do I have become accustomed to trying on ski boots and know how they are supposed to fit. It took me quite some time to realize how a boot was supposed to fit properly. For years I had always gone up a size in boot from what ever they started me at. I like a little bit of breathing room in my boot it made for better walking. However after the first day or two of skiing my shins were constantly in pain. My instructor informed me that my shins were hurting because my boots were too big. So the next day I went down a size and kept my boots strapped tight like my instructor said. I could not believe the difference it made. The smaller boot allowed me to have more control over my ski. Walking might not have been as great but I will take comfort on the mountain over comfort walking to and from the slopes. The best part of the whole thing was my shins did not hurt. I was finally able to ski the entire week I was there. Now when I rent boots I know what to look and feel for. All of this could have been avoided if I would have just simply listened to the first person that fit me for boots.

Love For the Ladies

by admin on March 18, 2009

In support of and to help give awareness to breast cancer, Beaver Creek, CO is holding a women’s competition. The competition will take place on April 4th and will be judged accordingly. There are teams with a one girl minimum and you may mix and match skiers and boarders. There is a 30 team limit, and the top 15 go to the second round, and the top 5 advance to the finals. The event is sponsored by many of the top names in the business and it is for a very good cause. What a way to support, make aware and have people get out on skis.

explore leadville

by admin on February 24, 2009

yesterday my mother was in town and we had the greatest day together. after renting skis using a ski rental delivery service we hit the slopes. beavercreek was our choice and there is something for everyone there. after a couple hours on the mountain we took a ride up to leadville. leadville is about 45 to 50 miles away from the vail area. the ride was beautiful and relaxing. leadville is a sleepy old west town which is located just below the continential divide. the mexican food there is incredible. we went to a place called casa blanca’s. i would suggest ordering the shrimp sopapia. if you are looking for something off the beaten path this is definitely the place to go.
