If youre renting skis this week at Beaver Creek make sure that if it has not snowed in a few days that you rent some skis made for the moguls or for the ice. The first trail I go to on Beaver Creek is Golden Eagle, always anxious to see if it has been groomed so I can make some nice long steep turns on the hill. In the past week I went over there twice and one time it was a mogul field from top to bottom, the other time it was a long sheet of ice. It is a tough choice to decide between a soft ski or a stiff ski in these types of conditions if you are looking to rent for the week. It seems that Beaver Creek likes to wait on grooming on a lot of their terrain making it very bumpy for the morning person looking to make some groomed runs.

It has been snowing here in Beaver Creek for a couple of days and the forecast looks like more snow will be arriving this week. This is a great time to rent a perfect powder ski from a Beaver Creek ski rental shop. Rossignol Voodoos and Phantom 80s are available at one of the Beaver Creek ski shops and are prime choices. They ride like a cadillac in the pow pow. They are made specifically for powder, while providing a smooth ride on groomed runs. Check them out online for more details. Come soon, while the snow is falling because it won’t last forever.

Riding the terrain parks at Beaver Creek can be an enjoyable experience for all levels of snowboards and skiers. The resort offers four unique levels of terrain. Park 101 is the easiest level an is a great place to learn freestyle tricks on small jumps, rails, and boxes. Zoom Room is the next level with slightly bigger jumps and more advance rails. The Rodeo Terrain Park is the most advanced with large size jumps and exterme rails. Caution this park is for advanced riders only. The last park is the Half Pipe. This area is also for advanced riders but if you are willing to try the half pipe, just make sure to use caution and respect around other riders. DT

these days things are a bit rough on the wallet. one way to save a bit is when skiing rather than eating at a place on the mountain, start packing a lunch. you can reserve a locker for a minimal amount and over a 3 or 4 day period the money can fly out the pocket if deciding to eat on the mountain. I know everybody need to make a buck and until vail start to decrease there prices i would highly suggest packing a lunch. also dine in rather than going out to a resturant. vail and beavercreek each have a safeway and a city market. a hundred dollars there can go a long way compared to taking a family of 4 to a fine dining restuarant. so good luck and bona petit

A ski trip can be hit or miss depending on the fit of your boot. If you go skiing and get a boot that is too big or too small for you your trip is going to be miserable. A boot that is too small can cause your feet to go numb and cause a very miserable time skiing. A boot that is too big will give you next to no control and can cause blisters and sheer discomfort. That is why it is so important to get a boot that fits you perfectly. A perfect fit consists of your touch just touching the end of the boot when your standing normal. Once you bend your knees in the skiing position they should shift back a little but not too much. Strapping the boots up depends on the skier and how tight or loose they might want their equipment. Having a comfortable boot can be the difference between an amazing vacation and a miserable time. Before you hit the slopes make sure your boot is the perfect fit to ensure a great time on the mountain.

I recently skied in Beaver Creek Colorado, and rented my kids ski equipment from a Beaver Creek ski rental shop. They did a great job setting up my kids with the skis that fit. Signing them up for ski school was a great idea. They really loved the gondola at the bunny hill. They were able to stay warm and happy, certainly making the instructors life much easier.

In Avon, over the past years there has been a development going on that includes both shopping and hotel accommodations. With this they have also built a Riverfront Gondola. This Gondola serves people to the lower Beaver Creek lift, which can access both Arrowhead and Beaver Creek Mountains. For locals in the area, people like to take the Gondola into town to run errands like the grocery, bank, and restaurants. This gondola is also convenient for skiers and snowboards that don’t need to worry about parking at Beaver Creek lots.

The Arrowhead mountain is one of my favorite ski mountains that Vail Resorts offers to its season pass holders. This ski area is a little past Beaver Creek but you can still access Beaver Creek from the Arrowhead side. Arrowhead offers free parking that is about 600 yards from the bottom of the lift. Another advantage is how less crowded the Arrowhead side is compared to the Beaver Creek side. Arrowhead Mountain has that small mountain feel that skis like a larger mountain resort.

The parking in Beaver Creek definitely is better than the parking situation in Vail, but when I went to go skiing at BC the other day it was ridiculous. Apparently when all Beaver creeks lots are full they move their parking to City Market in Avon, and the “Rodeo” which is between Walmart and downtown Avon. With these bus rides it’s not easy to make a few quick turns on your split shift and return to work. When you come skiing at Beaver Creek on the weekends be aware that your bus ride to the slopes may be longer than usual.
