I have been skiing/snowboarding for over 12 years and have never worn a helmet. I have had some close calls in the woods and have thought about getting a helmet. It was not until my roommate told me about a kid he worked with, who caught an edge in the trees. The kid did not have a helmet on and smashed into a tree, the doctors told him that he could not blow his nose for 3 weeks because he was leaking brain fluid. That story was enough for me. I went out and bought a helmet.
