WILD Life

by admin on September 6, 2009

As the snow melts from the mountains most of the tourists leave Vail Valley but the wildlife comes to play in the summer. In the Vail Daily people post pictures of animals they have encountered during hikes around the area. There have been pictures of a couple big horn sheep which apparently are not afraid of people and will follow hikers from a safe distance. Another wild animal that people encounter in the summer is the mountain lion. Although they are more fun to view from a vehicle they are beautiful creatures that if you respect them they will return the favor. How could we forget about the bears, you do not have to go far to encounter a bear, they have been spotted crossing Frontage Road, inside of the Dusty Boot in Beaver Creek, and in a women’s home in Aspen. WIth the warm weather comes a lot of wild animals, people have to simply remember to keep garbage secure and do other small things that will not attract wild animals. I know that Vail Ski Rentals will secure all of their garbage properly.
